HiPiHi Appoints New CTO

Beijing, China – 26 March 2008: HiPiHi, China’s pioneer of the 3D virtual world, today announced the appointment of Tokyo-based virtual worlds service firm, 3Di’s ex-Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Toshitaka Jiku, as HiPiHi’s new CTO and Executive Vice-President. Jiku’s appointment was effective from March, 2008 and he will take charge of HiPiHi’s platform operations and technical development.
Toshitaka Jiku brings to HiPiHi, his strong passion and dedication for the 3D virtual worlds industry, along with his extensive years of technical and management experience in the research and development of 3D systems. Toshitaka Jiku will hence be a valuable addition to the HiPiHi team and continue to drive the company’s technology development goals while enhancing their core competencies as an industry leader.

Born and raised in China, Toshitaka Jiku graduated from China’s Shanghai Jiaotong University’s naval engineering program and holds a Master’s degree in Digital Content Management from the Digital Hollywood Institute in addition to a PhD in structural engineering from Japan’s Yokohama University. Since 2000, he has dedicated his career to the research and development of 3D systems, specifically in the areas of system architecture, flight simulation, landscape simulation and 3D CAD among others.
In February 2007, he initiated Jiku Labs that specialized in the design, architecting and operating of virtual worlds. This was followed by his June 2007 appointment as Director of the Tokyo-based NGI Group’s 3D Division and the CTO and Executive Vice-President of the NGI subsidiary—3Di. There, Toshitaka Jiku was charged with the responsibilities of expanding NGI’s business operations in all areas of the 3D virtual worlds industry’s ecosystem.
